Hi! An optometrist is not a medical doctor! He is licensed to practice optometry, which includes vision tests, prescribing corrective lenses, detecting certain eye abnormalities, and prescribing medications for certain eye diseases performing the primary vision care. Ophthalmologist (Eye M.D.) – is licensed to practice eye medicine and surgery. His degree is higher than optometrist.
